Bonjour

Hello. I’ve been away. However now I’m back. And you know what that means. Yes the next 10 million posts on this blog will be about holidays, complete with about 15 million pictures uploaded to Flickr.

But that will be then, and this is now, so until then, let me give you a gift. Thanks to the wonders of the internet, it’s the little piece of music that French railway company SNCF play before tanoy announcements at their stations…

To view this video you need Flash 9, or above, installed. If you have Flash and still can’t see this video, you can watch it via YouTube

var flashvars = {}; var params = {}; var attributes = {}; swfobject.embedSWF(“http://www.youtube.com/v/9bobmqeNirU”, “mediaplayer”, “425”, “355”, “9.0.0”, false, flashvars, params, attributes);

In the interests of those that don’t have Flash, or don’t/can’t enjoy audio delights like these, the music goes a little like… Bjum, derr, de-derr sort of starting off in music, before becoming sung.

Now imagine hearing it several times an hour. Sometimes several times a minute. Over several hours.

Thanks to one website, you can download it. Here is a direct link to the MP3 file however it’s not quite the same when not played over echo-ing and rather dodgy speakers. Too clean. As I don’t normally agree with providing just direct links to audio files, thus by-passing the website in question, here is a link to the webpage I found that jingle on however it comes with a warning that the jingle is played on a loop continuously on my copy of Firefox so might do the same on your browser…
