Apparently Edinburgh’s tram scheme is running behind and there may be four trams in need of a temporary home, and a good test on some real track. Although the local paper may be being a bit optimistic in its thinking that the trams may be used in passenger service to boost current service levels…

The post situation in the SW19 post delivery office is so bad they’re apparently sorting mail on the streets. Genius. Mind you, you know things are really bad when you see postmen doing rounds on Sunday afternoons as happened yesterday.

It’s hard to imagine anywhere else in Britain where the release of a new public transport map would cause a flurry of blog posts and comments… But then the tube map is a strong feature of London’s identity. But why oh why oh why have they got rid of the Thames?!

Not exactly surprising result. Some will rightly point out privatisation is still generally an improvement over the final days of British Rail but others would counter that by pointing out the BR was starved in its final years, and rail subsidies are far far greater now than they were then.

Mayo’s been hotly tipped for Chris Evans’s job on Radio 2 Drivetime, which has obviously led to speculation about who will replace him at Five Live. All doubly complicated by Five Live moving to Salford in 2011. So who better to replace Mayo than someone who is already in the north?
