(Adobe) Flash! A-ah, Saviour of the Universe!

Outragous I know, but the BBC recently sent me on a training course. No idea why – someone muttered something about “investing in staff” and then ran away. It was a training course in Flash, something the team is increasingly going to be using as it starts appearing in set top boxes and TVs.
Sorry, but you need Flash to view this exciting animation. If you’re viewing via a news reader like Google Reader or Bloglines, you’ll need to visit the website to see it. It’s worth it. Honest.
As you can see from this example from my course, I’ve done some great stuff, and I feel it would be a complete waste if I didn’t put it in action on my personal blog!
Yes, this animation of a boat on the choppy seas is just the start of a Flash revolution for Planet Bods! I have some big things planned!
First the banner graphics will swoosh in from the right hand side! Titles will subtly animate and glow. Text will move around from left to right as you hover your mouse over it!
Yet again, we have to apologise as you, once more, need Flash to view this utterly astounding animation. And if you don’t have it, well I dunno what to suggest really…
And most importantly of all, this bike will sit in the background, constantly riding down and up the hill, it’s wheels turning all the time, despite being mysteriously riderless and having no pedals.
As I’m sure you’ll agree, these forthcoming changes will radically improve this website no end, and I look forward to taking you on this new journey as Planet Bods moves into the 21st century.

Err, why does the bike go quicker up the hill than down it? 😉
Sshhh!
Anyway, it’s cos the bike sped up going downhill so got a temporary speed increase whilst going up 😉
It’s a terribly sweet thing.
Where is the flash course available … ?
It was a bespoke course put together by our department – geared up mainly for Flash for TV devices.
Boo.
You bunch and your *special* courses.
*tuts and crawls back under his rock*
😉
So more transferable skills then ? 🙂
I hope you are learning Flex as well then.
As far as I’m concerned, Flash can stop with a dodgy bicycle endlessly going up and down a hill! But funnily enough, our instructor did mention Flex. And didn’t exactly seem too keen on it…
